Our solicitors Deborah Sim, Angel Tai, and Brenda Ling attended the International Women’s Day Event organised by the Australian Asian Businesswomen’s Association on 8 March 2026. The event featured three speakers and a moving musical performance by an outstanding Australian Operatic Soprano, Julia Allsop.
In line with this year’s theme of “Give to Gain”, Moira Kelly shared stories from decades of helping vulnerable children access life-changing medical care, and inspired all attendees with her persistence and unwavering belief that every child deserves dignity and opportunity. What resonated most was her reminder that change often begins with one person choosing to act, and that no act is too small.
The second speaker Leila Gurruwiwi, a Yolngu woman of the Galpu Clan from Northeast Arnhem land, reminded the attendees about the importance of listening to Indigenous voices and empowering young Aboriginal women to carry forward their culture and leadership.
It was also encouraging to hear from Lucinda Tee-Wu, a second-year Global Challenges student at Monash University, about her commitment to making a difference in the world at such a young age.
Although all three speakers had very different experiences, each speaker demonstrated how giving can create meaningful change.
Thank you to the AABWA for hosting such a wonderful event.
