On Saturday, August 9th, 2025, in Clayton, Pearsons Lawyers Deborah Sim, Angel Tai and Brenda Ling delivered a presentation on asset protection, wills and enduring powers of attorney.

The session addressed the ‘Bank of Mum and Dad’, de facto relationships, and the legal complexities that can arise when financial support is provided to family members.

Deborah and Brenda explained how trusts, companies and family loans are considered in family law, using real-life examples of disputes that arise after separation.

Angel wrapped up with practical strategies for ensuring wills and powers of attorney are in place, especially for clients with complex family or business arrangements.

JG Accountants emphasised the proactive role accountants can take in encouraging clients to put safeguards in place, helping avoid future disputes.

What was intended as a one-hour event ran for nearly three hours thanks to strong engagement and positive feedback!

A big thank you to JG Accountants Melbourne for hosting and to everyone who made the event such a success.
